Lele along with others involved in The Koha Shed Australia provide emergency and crisis accommodation, plus support for people experiencing homelessness and escaping family domestic violence in our communities. Lele is a real inspiration tirelessly putting people’s needs first before her own – I am humbled to call her my friend.
My gran has volunteered at The Royal Children’s Hospital Victoria for over 40 years. She has always given back to others with no expectation of anything in return. She is an amazing woman and someone I strive to be like. This is what humanity looks like in a person!
Graeme nominated Lana for her passion in helping the homeless and underprivileged members of her local community through her not-for-profit organisation, Mama Lana’s Community Foundation. Lana works tirelessly to provide hot meals 6 nights a week as well as other necessities to those who need it most. Graeme, being fully retired, selflessly volunteers his time at Lana Mana’s Community Foundation also.
Graeme Logan nominated Arabella for consistently thinking of others and being an amazing young community minded citizen through her efforts as a valued NSW Rural Fire Service Cadet volunteer in her community of Kurrajong – Hawkesbury region, NSW. Graeme Logan is a Monthly Nominator Winner.
Jeff Shelley nominated Melinda for sorting through 500 books per day and for giving over 300,000 books to children living in poverty in Australia over the past 5 years, because when you are struggling to put food on the table, children’s books are a luxury! Candina Williams nominated Joshua for collecting goods for bushfire ravaged Kangaroo Island community which was severely affected by the Bushfires earlier this year. He also donated 2 containers of store gear and offered his trucks, diesel, time and employees to collect hay to support our drought stricken famers too. What a caring Aussie! My sister is a passionate Youth Worker from Perth WA. She created courses to help young people, who many would consider disadvantaged, gain qualifications to get them into work and therefore a better life. You can hear how proud Amanda is of her students!
Lisa nominated and is part of the team of Corryong Community Ambulance Officers who, during the devastating bushfires, worked to ensure that vulnerable community members could evacuate out of the district, including nursing home and elderly community residents. The First Responders stayed 24/7 at the local hospital, away from their families, attending the relief centre to support their local community.
